I get mesmerized listening to the new recording from last Saturday. Currently I am listening to a 29:43 BLAUDO* jam from December called PHONOGRAPH NEEDLE. It's been a week since the OOLYAKOO* session with Huey at EDITBLOCK* and I’m still tripping on the mixes. These are pretty much the straight live tracks with slight mixing… 6 or so actual hours of work… and I’m mind-boggled. I have believed in the possibility of capturing pure magic since I began playing with tape recorders over 30 years ago. I have been involved in the process many times,.. or I’d have quit. Huey caught magic as it passed through OOLYAKOO. The amp just blew up on the BLAUDO jam, so now it’s time to listen to last weeks tracks: whoops. Got lost in the versions up on the site and forgot what I was listening to… looking at pictures from the studio and the show on Wednesday. Now it’s SORROW IS A COLD GUN (THANKS, JOHN)… and it’s all there. The guitars and vocals were supposed to be scratched from the live tracks of these songs… and most of them will survive the final cut. Listening again: Now SOME DAY SWEAR… and DEAL into SHE DIALS 911… we got the live recordings I wanted
