Well it seems to be turning out that the neighborhood we moved into a few months ago (though literally 2 blocks North and 2 blocks West from the previous place) is a candystore for local yahoos to mess with people's cars. Now granted, my first experience with it was pretty benign,.. if fact, I think I might have even accidentally left my car unlocked after practice and a visitor decided to stop by. With the exception of the contents of my glovebox being moved around, my minimal amount of parking meter change pilfered along with a few MuzzleLoader CD's (which I just chalked up for "street distribution"... that is our target audience, right?) there was no loss or harm done. Two weekends ago, however, the benign turned to malign: I went out to my car early Saturday to go in for some overtime and some clown had pried my entire passenger door handle out of the door. Now I only claim to be a genius during isolated occasions (and usually with a well thought out disclaimer) but even I know that when a door handle is pried off, the door will remain locked. This amateur wasn't privy to this knowledge and, well, didn't even get into the car... just royally screwed up the door... along with some other damages. I shook it off and had Tracy drive me into work (in her car, minus one hubcap that had been stolen from her a couple of weeks before)... which brings me to this point: People still steal hubcaps?!?!? I thought this kind of behaviour was exhausted in the '70's. What the hell does someone do with a hubcap? I mean, is there really a market for such things? I guess so, because this morning yet another hubcap was stolen from her car. She was pissed (justifiably) and I was just baffled. What does one get on the black market for a hubcap? Since we've decided to take all the remaining hubcaps from her car, I'm hoping someone will approach us to sell us some so I can find out... Now, back to my car... for comic value: So I spent the next few days crawling through my trunk in order to open my drivers side door, due to the fact that it hasn't been opening from the outside for a few months since that handle quit working and I'm the king of procrastination. I'll bet the neighbors enjoyed watching that spectacle. LOVE REMOVAL MACHINE played it's second show last Tuesday at a place called Sylvie's Lounge here in Chicago. (We opened up for Happenin' Harry & The Haptones from L.A. I'll share a humorous backstory concerning a past, related experience some other time.) We had a great show and things have definitely tightened up. We have another show down south in Midlothian slated for March 11... where we will be playing a 2-hour show. I'm looking forward to the opportunity and challenge. Should be good. I've been pretty busy with other things and have neglected putting up any new selections for your listening pleasure... but will try to motivate myself to get a few new tunes up this weekend. Yash (drummer - SHAFT, MZZL & BLAUDO) recently sent me a couple of improvs from practices a few years back that have some pretty fun vocal storylines running through them as well as some wild instrumentation that I might try to sneak in also... so check back and maybe I'll have some interesting noise in up in the near future...
