I don't go to musicians for their politics, so regardless of what some may have to say of artist's opinions, it's the art that matters. I never particularly cared whom Bon Scott would have voted for in the next election. Secretly to myself I was wondering how many people were aware that her latest album was reggae and that she was touring with a reggae band. I just wanted to hear her sing and was pleased at the opportunity, having not long ago heard a rumor that she was out of the business. There have been moments that I’ve stated she has the best female voice of our generation. I try to disclaim with the word “popular”, but I don’t think she fits in that category. The opening act played for about 35 minutes when they announced her onstage. She sang a song acappella as a bit of a warmup and then the music began. It was reggae and I hadn’t gotten high, so I had to follow her voice into the spirit. She made it all palpable. I could tell she was having difficulty with her sound arrangement as she was occasionally giving direction to the side sound crew but there were true moments of brilliance and times when she would break into her little dance. Near the end she would bring the mic down to her waist and you could hear her voice fill the room. Yeah, she rocked. Knew she would. She didn’t play a damn song from her past. Knew she wouldn’t. I was not disappointed.
