Listening to a recording of the last LOVE REMOVAL MACHINE* show from 4/08. The sound quality is far beyond that of the first show, not even to mention an obvious increase in the tightening of the band and the comfortability with the song. I'll probably end up adding "Peace Dog" to the HEAR* section of this site. There's a scream in it that makes me smile. So that show was almost a month ago. The next night I drove down to Muse Cafe in Lansing, IL for a RUB session. It's an improv consensus of several musicians and Chris L. from LRM invited me down to share some vocals. I requested a djembe be present and I got off on that, as well as singing on 4 of the jams. Last night I sat up and listened to the recordings from that evening and transcribed some of the lyrics for analysis of the melody structure later. 2 were written/vocalized that night and the lyrics of the other 2 were pieced together from poems written in 1994. They had never been sung before and I think I can mine the lines for future compositions. I'll be uploading a track or 2 from that in the future. It was really nice to sing off the cuff like that among musicians I had never met. I've been to several shows since that weekend and finally got finished writing about each last night. I spent last weekend in the Santa Monica area and had the opportunity to work on the BLAUDO* recordings with Trey. We tracked the majority of the vocals for final of the 12 songs currently tracked and it was a very successful session. I had been working on the lyrics behind a computer screen for the last while and to finally sing them and let them breathe was great. I was able to excorcise the delivery I was hearing in my head. It's nice to feel a continued progress with my voice and I look forward to seeing where it goes next...
