I had mentioned the bottle to my sister the other week and she seemed surprised that we still had it. "Let it breathe... it might be a bit vinegary." I resolved at that moment to open the bottle before the end of the year. We drove to Las Vegas for a weekend wedding. I drove us over to Hoover Dam on the way in to kill some time before our room was ready. She had never been to the area before. We found our room and decided to explore for a bit. It was chilly but the casinos were warm. I collected a few prostitute cards and asked one of the ladies handing them out if she would answer the number if I called. We were tired and hungry, so headed back to the hotel to eat in one of the in-house restaurants and grab a few drinks before a nap. Slept until 3:30 a.m. and decided to stay in and go to bed. After the wedding we drove back the next evening… missing the shutting down of the 15 due to snow by a day and getting her home in time for a night’s sleep before dropping her at the airport the following morning. I walk into my sister’s kitchen and a bottle of the wine we had discussed was sitting on the cabinet. I was surprised that she still had it. Questioning her it turned out our conversation had stirred up a bottle and she had opened it the evening before I arrived. I told her I wanted a taste and she said it should sit in the glass for about an hour before it was ripe to drink. I waited a while before I had her pour it for me. For dinner this evening it was lobster and crab-legs, mimosa, some broccoli and corn-on-the-cob. We toasted a new year and I’ve poured the last glass of this bottle. Listening to the BABACAR CD that was released in 1998. My lady found it for me. Tomorrow is herring and black-eyed peas. And a messy New Year to you.
