So Trey picks me up at the airport and we head over to the rehearsal studio. We want to have the mics all set up so that when we get started on Saturday, we can just arrive and push record. Of course, we're both excited to be back in the studio and recording together, so instead of just a warm-up we end up recording the vocal tracks for "Kensong". By 4:30 a.m. we're driving through the Del Taco in Newport Beach (damn I miss the Del) and are ready for a couple more beers & a crash. The next day we head up to the studio mid-day to pick up where we left off. Unfortunately, due to my overzealousness and lack of continued singing over the last few months, my voice has suffered from the night before and is a bit rough. We do make it through 2 more songs ("Out of Context" and "Prose & Cons") finishing the first and finally throwing in the towel at around 10 p.m., about 50% of "Prose" usable. The rest of the evening is bud, vine and Felix the Cat on DVD... By Sunday, the throat is thrashed. So much for my marathon and I realize I might not be finishing this recording this trip. We try to warm it up, but it's not cooperating... so it's over to our favorite Mexican joint in Vernon & I start calling into L.A. to see what the next couple of days will hold for me. Nunc est Bibendum...
